Ensures adherence to agreed PM guidelines and operation standards on behalf of PMO Head or PMO Manager.

Varian is seeking an entry-level Global Installations Project Manager (Level 1). In this role you plan, coordinate, and supervise the implementation of Varian products with our customers. This opportunity is suitable for a candidate who wants to develop a career in project management. We are looking to invest in someone willing to learn and grow with passion, energy, and drive that can bring creative ideas, critical thinking, and a strong appetite for project execution. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a structured working methodology, and the ability to collaborate across functions of the company, our customers, and 3rd party contractors.  

The Role/Attributes 

Plans, coordinates and supervises the implementation of Varian products with our customers, contractors, and Varian internal stakeholders with support from a mentor or manager.

Works on projects of limited scope and dependencies, typically a single product is in scope 

Performs routine project management tasks to ensure customer compliance with technical requirements, for equipment implementation and minor upgrades 

May manage multiple smaller projects concurrently 

Participates / may facilitate on-site visits and/or conference calls 

Supports customers and contractors to prepare the facility for a successful and efficient implementation or upgrade of a product 

Provides qualified input and feedback with support from SMEs 

Identifies and mitigates project risks and issues  

Coordinates resources and equipment shipment schedules 

Provides reports indicating installation activities including tight control of installation forecast 

Uses knowledge articles 

May provide feedback on process improvement, training, and documentation 

What Is Needed to Succeed 

Familiar with the basics of project management and project management tools 

Trained (certified*) on selected products across Varian's product family 

Develops an understanding of products in the scope of projects assigned 

Able to follow/execute a project with guidance from a mentor or manager 

Understand and apply Global Installation processes, follows standard practices and procedures  

"Hardware Project Management-specific Requirements:  

Must have a general knowledge of construction, codes, and government radiation regulations. 

Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

Basic negotiating and conflict management skills desired 

Structured working methodology 

Strong customer service acumen 

Networks with internal personnel in their own area of expertise 

Willing to learn and grow with passion, energy, and drive that can bring creative ideas, critical thinking, and a strong appetite for project execution
