The role

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Chief Underwriting Office as the National Portfolio Manager - Commercial Motor Vehicle. As the National Portfolio Manager, you will be responsible for setting risk appetite and underwriting environment for the delivery of the product profitability with growth, across all markets within QBE Australia.

Leveraging our deep expertise and insights, QBE offers commercial, personal and specialty products and risk management solutions to help people and businesses manage risks, build strength and embrace change to their advantage.

About the Role

A day in the role may look a bit like this:

Develop, deliver and drive an effective and profitable portfolio strategy

Provide technical leadership to the Product Committee

Work with actuaries to plan, monitor & understand performance

Provide definitive insights of the Portfolio performance

Represent the product in developing the annual business plan

Manage internal stakeholders including senior executives

Be the ultimate referral point for complex underwriting activities

Establish and maintain product underwriting standards including risk management and risk acceptance criteria

Oversee the internal and regulatory compliance for Commercial Motor products

Represent QBE technically at ICA and industry forums

Determine intent and operation of product wordings and related documents

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

Extensive Insurance experience, ideally in an Underwriting/Portfolio Management role

Track record in Commercial Motor including strong Fleet Motor experience

Advanced knowledge of risk management, portfolio management and underwriting

Proven Relationship building, communication, negotiating and influencing skills at a senior level within the insurance industry

Strong analytical skills along with effective planning and budgeting skills
