National Sr. Endangered Species Project Manager (Remote)

Tetra Tech is adding an Endangered Species Biologist to join our team. As an Endangered Species Biologist, you will play a crucial role in the conservation and preservation of endangered species and their habitats.

 

This position can be located anywhere in the U.S.

Your Role:

·         Provide high level support and strategic thinking to on-going projects addressing environmental concerns of renewable energy (wind power, solar power, battery storage), traditional energy, linear infrastructure (i.e., transmission lines and pipelines), and other types of projects throughout North America.

·         Performing due diligence and permitting for energy projects may also include writing NEPA documents, including EAs or EISs, mitigation plans, HCPs, BAs, ECPs, and other documents required under the Endangered Species Act and other environmental rules, regulations, and associated permitting.

·         Support project development (i.e., work scopes, proposals and costs), compliance strategy development, and represent our clients in negotiations with regulatory agencies and promote a high level of technical competence in our work products. The position also provides the opportunity to manage projects.

·         Attend and present at conferences and other networking events to promote exposure of the company within the industry.

 

Qualifications:

·         BS or higher degree in applicable field (i.e., environmental science/policy, natural resources planning, biology, ecology or geography, or a closely related discipline).

·         Types of studies typically required for these projects include avian and/or bat surveys, habitat delineations, specialized studies for federal and state listed threatened and endangered species, and post-construction mortality studies.

·         10+ years of experience in working with public and/or commercial clients.

·         Be a strong technical leader with established stakeholder relationships.

·         Excellent interpersonal communication, oral presentation, and verbal and written communication skills.

·         Strong strategic thinker, problem-solver, and technical report writer/editor.

·         Excellent organizational and time management skills.

·         Experience with environmental permitting related to wildlife, bats and/or avifauna.

·         Preferred experience in Hawaii, Pacific Northwest, Midwest and Southeast.

·         Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

·         Applied knowledge of ecological assessment, environmental impact analysis, environmental due diligence studies, natural/biological resources management, and habitat conservation planning.

·         Knowledge of permitting processes at the federal and state levels.

·         Any listed species where you have a high level of understanding and proficiency.

·         Experience with statistical tools for fatality estimation and risk assessment.

·         Technical skills related to the assessment of wildlife or sensitive/protected habitat.

·         Experience in providing effective peer review of technical and client-oriented work products.

·         Demonstrated success in regulatory negotiations at the federal and state levels.

·         Ability to review, synthesize, and interpret biological resources information.

·         Experience with NEPA-compliant documentation (BA, CATEX, EA and EIS). Experience with ESA (Sections 7 and 10) requirements and USFWS consultation process, CWA (Sections 401 and 404) requirements and permit process, and other state-specific environmental regulations.

·         Experience preparing and negotiating ESA HCPs.

·         Experience with eagle take permitting under BGEPA, including the development of ECPs and ETP applications and negotiation of permit conditions.

·         Demonstrated success in technical scope development, budgeting, and pricing projects.

·         Project management experience (specifying the client sector, the scale of the project and personal roles).

·         Examples of commitment to quality management, continuous improvement, and client satisfaction.

·         Demonstrated success in team leadership, staff mentoring, project management, and client/business development.

Compensation:

Salary commensurate with experience. 

Salary Range: $120k-$185k

 

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience and demonstrated work experience in the above role; skills, certifications, and competencies that align to the specified role; geographic location; and education, as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

 

A pre-employment drug screen in compliance with federal regulations is required, along with a physical if needed.
