Natural Resource Specialist
Job Title: Natural Resource Specialist

Job Description

Assist with coordinating and negotiating compliance with environmental laws in support of various projects. The role requires proficiency with federal, state, and local laws related to environmental protection and development of residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional properties for both public and private clients.

ResponsibilitiesConduct field work to delineate regulated natural resources including non-tidal wetland delineations, forest stand delineations, and natural resources inventories.Perform mitigation and reforestation monitoring for projects.Participate in project meetings to discuss recommendations on how to meet federal, state, and local regulations to accomplish project objectives.Under supervision, prepare plans, reports, memos, permit applications, and other correspondence to advise and guide the planning and design process.Prepare reforestation plans, wetland mitigation plans, and other planting plans with guidance, ensuring project deadlines are met.Assist with the application process to obtain regulatory approvals of field delineations and adjust wetland delineation as necessary to obtain approval.Conduct negotiations to obtain approval of impacts to regulated natural resources under supervision.Perform other job-related duties as assigned.Essential SkillsBachelor’s Degree in biological or physical sciences.Ability to identify plants, describe soil conditions, and understand ecological principles.Working knowledge of environmental regulations and policies through education or on-the-job experience.Basic level CAD experience through education or on-the-job experience.Strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly persuasive writing skills.Ability to work alone outdoors for long periods carrying equipment and performing physical labor.Additional Skills & QualificationsMay be subject to fingerprinting, completing safety programs, and drug testing.Work Environment

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $38.36
