Your Opportunity  

Stantec is seeking an Intern to be based out of our Twin Cities offices who is highly motivated to join us in continuing to grow our reputation as a leader in environmental services throughout the Midwest and Great Plains. This is a temporary position which would include working with our Natural Resources team, assisting with various projects related to wetlands, wildlife and other projects. Our team works on a variety of different projects, while specializing in their passion and building a well-rounded base of experience. Our variety of projects and clients is what keeps our work interesting and fulfilling, while being dedicated to serving our clients and our communities. 

As a member of our team, you will be contributing to our existing services in the region focused on federal and state agencies, municipalities, private developers, transportation, and agricultural industries. With our strong client base in the regions in which we work, this is your opportunity to be an integral part of assisting our efforts in a support role during the 2024 growing season. The preferred candidate will be able to periodically travel throughout the Upper Midwest and Great Plains regions, while maintaining a Twin Cities-area base.

Your Key Responsibilities Support field survey teams conducting wetland delineations, fish studies, bird/bat fatality monitoring, etc. Data collection and analysis Support the preparation of technical reports Collect and analyze field data Natural resource restoration plans Wetland mitigation plans Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling Permit applications and other technical reports Evaluate data and create maps using ArcGIS Coordinate with local, state, federal agencies on permitting and regulatory matters Work with agricultural producers Communicate with our clients Your Capabilities and Credentials Desire and ability to work efficiently Oral communication skills sufficient to effectively communicate with team members Ability to work in adverse weather and environmental conditions Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including databases, spreadsheets, and word processing Strong problem-solving skills Ability to work independently or as part of a team Strong analytical skills, and attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to manage multiple tasks at once and meet strict project deadlines.  Ability to travel regionally and locally as required Driver’s license with clean driving record ​​​​​​​Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or university coursework in Natural Resources, Water Resource, or related field

​​​​​​​Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Periodic overnight travel (most frequently during May to October).
