Job Summary

Croydon Creek Nature Center is recruiting a dynamic and energetic candidate who has knowledge of native flora and fauna and experience in developing and leading programs in an environmental education setting. This position cares for and handles live animals native to Maryland such as toads, turtles and snakes. Please note that this job posting is recruiting for a part time (non-benefitted) position to work year-round. The schedule is approximately 12-20 hours per week as dictated by the needs of the center and will include 3-5 weekend days per month.

Essential Job Functions

Work is performed under the direction of the Nature Center supervisors and includes developing and conducting environmental education programs for school groups, scout groups, families and others. This position also develops and implements (2) week-long summer day camps. Work includes assisting with animal care, small exhibit design, program registration, volunteer management and other administrative responsibilities and duties as assigned. Successful candidates will be required to provide excellent customer service, be able to work independently, and learn the city-wide computerized registration system, which includes registering participants for programs, processing payments, and generating and balancing daily cash reports.

Qualifications

Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be proficient with computer usage and programs such as the Microsoft Office Suite. Will be required to possess or obtain CPR/AED/First Aid certifications and should possess a valid driver’s license.  
Experience:
Any combination of training and experience in developing and leading programs related to environmental education and interpretation is required.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
