Summary You will serve as a NAVAL ARCHITECT (STRUCTURAL) in the Engineering and Planning Department, Structural Engineering and Planning Division C2505 of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF. Responsibilities You will serve as the Process Quality Training (PQT) Engineer, responsible for developing, adapting, modifying, and/or improving engineering processes and ship systems. You will identify, develop and implement process improvement initiatives and prepares, develops and delivers training plans and requirements to support improvement initiatives. You will conduct independent engineering studies, investigations, research and analysis for the solution of unusual or unprecedented engineering problems or in support of short and long-term engineering projects. You will prepare and direct the development of engineering reports and correspondences relating to specific work projects. You will be responsible to initiate, participate in, lead teams in support of, and implement process improvement initiative within and among divisions and shipyard departments. You will be responsible for writing informational articles on process improvements, Quality initiatives and the training program. You will perform weekly analysis of various Shipyard/Department/Division databases and metrics to determine problem areas and root causes to identify solutions and maintain procedural enforcement. You will plan, develop and define engineering guidelines and objectives to be applied in the accomplishment of work in the technical areas of work. You will be responsible for identification, development, management and coordination of all technical training within the specific division. You will review contractor work specifications and documents for technical adequacy and provide government oversight ensuring the naval requirements in tasking documents are met. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional Naval Architect Engineer, developing technical engineering structural work reports, designs, projects, and correspondence to provide recommendations and implement modernization and efficiencies for structural systems of surface craft or submarines. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
