Naval Welder (Active Clearance)
**Job Title: Cleared Welder** **Job Description** We are seeking Cleared Structural Welders for local work with the ability to travel. The initial testing and subsafe will be conducted locally in Chesapeake for a few weeks, requiring candidates to be local to the area. Welders will be welding Carbon Steel in three positions for the weld test, which will be x-rayed if passed visually. This is a travel-open position with specific physical and safety requirements. **Responsibilities** • Welds materials in accordance with (TGI) Task Group Instruction • Lays out position of parts on metal, working from blueprints • Locates and marks reference lines, such as center, buttock, and frame lines • Positions and installs parts in hull of ship, assisted by rigger, working with welders • Rolls, bends, flanges, cuts, and shapes plates, beams, and other heavy metal parts • Using shop machinery such as plate rolls, presses, bending brakes • Installs packing, gaskets, liners, and structural accessories and members, such as doors, hatches, brackets, and clips **Why Work Here?** Join a large and well-known company that is one of only two employers capable of performing repair work on submarines across the US. Benefit from the opportunity to work on critical projects with a reputable organization. **Qualifications / Requirements** + Perform welding on Carbon Steel in three positions for weld testing. + Complete subsafe testing locally in Chesapeake. + Travel to various locations as required for job assignments. + Undergo a respirator physical at the worksite. + Adhere to OSHA standards and pass a standard 5-panel drug test. **Essential Skills** + Proficiency in Mig welding, SMAW welding, Tig welding, and Flux Core welding. + Ability to read and interpret blueprints. + Experience in fabrication and structural shipyard welding. + 5+ years of experience as a shipboard welder. + Active security clearance. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Experience with Carbon Steel and structural shipyard welding. + Ability to perform tasks under strict safety guidelines and procedures. **Work Environment** Work in a shipyard setting in various locations. The role requires adherence to strict safety standards and procedures, including OSHA compliance and passing a standard 5-panel drug test.
