Job Description
The Numerical Control Programming Engineer (NC Programming) is responsible for analyzing engineering drawings to define the configuration of parts and determine the type and sequence of machine operations needed. This role supports all stages of the product and program lifecycle. The NC Programmer develops program code for machining parts and tools on numerically controlled machines and robots, selecting proper cutters while considering material, feeds/speeds, types of cutters, and control system limitations. The NC Programmer also selects routines for efficient computer calculation of dimensional and machining requirements, tests, and modifies existing parts programs for engineering changes or improvements. This position will be a 12-month contract to hire, with 12 holidays.
Responsibilities
+ Program rapid ply cutter (PRC) equipment to cut composite material in preparation for bonding operations.
+ Program laser projection equipment to define manufacturing build sequence and location of composite ply components.
+ Program 3-axis and 5-axis automatic tape laying equipment, as well as trim and drill machine cells.
+ Program 3-axis and 5-axis machine centers for fabrication of production components, repair components, and tooling details.
+ Work under supervision from engineers and program leadership in a team environment.
+ Support implementation of NC programming from original concept through to production, managing change implementation and control.
+ Identify and support the introduction of new technology in line with the assigned Program / Value Stream requirements.
Essential Skills
+ NC Programming experience
+ Proficiency in Catia v5
+ Experience with Vericut Software
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with FiberSim (preferred but not required)
+ Composites experience (preferred but not critical)
+ Fundamental knowledge of manufacturing, fabrication & assembly techniques, and related standards in aerospace or similar industries.
+ Understanding of business & quality processes such as FAA, DoD, Export Control, ITAR, Nadcap, AS9100, and customer contractual requirements.
+ Limited understanding or exposure to Lean/Six Sigma Tools and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) tools.
Work Environment
This is an onsite position with flexible start times from 6am-2pm, 7am-3:30pm, or 8am-4:30pm. The role involves working primarily at a desk, programming all day, and collaborating with only one other programme
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $75.00/hr.
