The vacancy: NDT Engineer Level 2We are looking for an NDT Engineer certified in MPI & FPI Level 2 to join the Manufacturing Engineering team that focuses on the Fokker Landing Gear products.
The NDT Engineer Level 2 plays a crucial role in certifying the safety and reliability of our products used in landing gear on aircrafts and helicopters like the NH90, Apache and F35. Quality, safety and reliability are critical for GKN Aerospace and our customers and by using MPI & FPI, you play a vital role in the operational and development programs. Your goal as NDT Engineer is to enable and deliver zero defect projects utilizing engineering and problem solving skills. This role is accountable for delivering robust, capable manufacturing process technology as it applies to NDT process definition.
As an NDT Engineer level 2, you work alongside and you are guided by an NDT Engineer Level 3. Your goal is to gain the relevant experience and work towards being also certified as Level 3 in MPI and FPI.
What you'll doAt GKN Fokker Aerospace, you work with a dedicated and enthusiastic team. During the daily meetings, you discuss with the team the planning and ongoing projects, which can either be new build or in MRO. You work with high-end products that must meet strict quality standards. These products that you inspect are exposed to extreme conditions and loads, such as salt, sand, and extremely low or high temperatures. Varied work? Absolutely!
Furthermore, your role as NDT Engineer level 2 will include the following tasks:
Conduct material inspections following internal GKN Fokker and/or client specifications using magnetic particle testing (MPI) and fluorescent penetrant inspection (FPI). Ensure the quality and safety of components for landing gear, preventing defects in subsequent production steps. Assessing deviations and determining preventive and corrective measures based on applicable standards and procedures. Interface with customers and auditing bodies and interpret regulations, standards, specifications and procedures, both from Fokker and customer or regulatory bodies (Aerospatiale, Airbus, DASA, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Westland, EN4179, JAR, MIL/ASNT/ASTM, etc.). Establish techniques and procedures for both GKN Fokker and customers, prepare work instructions for inspection activities. Keep knowledge up-to-date regarding applicable materials, manufacturing methods, and product technology for determining NDT techniques, application and criteria. Assist in determining the application and evaluation criteria, if not available; promote the establishment of criteria (acceptance/rejection) in collaboration with Design, Analysis, Materials & Processes (incl. via TH1, TH6 and among others for NCRs, MRB, Effect or defect programs, reference panels – IPR, CRP, PCP – etc. ). Support the set up of requirements for the execution of NDT methods (authorization or assignment), including the qualification/certification of personnel and equipment/tools, assistance with/or conducting NDT audits, ensure quality level of NDT procedures and inspection sheets. What you'll bringWhat we expect from you as an NDT Engineer level 2 is to deliver components of the highest quality together with your team based in Papendrecht and Helmond.
You are a driven, curious person and you have an enthusiastic mindset with a quality-focused and critical approach. You are a flexible team player willing to assist your colleagues working in 2 shifts and you enjoy collaborating to implement improvements. Furthermore, you have the following qualifications:
Level 2 certification on MPI and FPI, Familiarity with other certification on other methods, such as UT, Experience in the aerospace manufacturing sector, Fluent in English, both verbally and in writing, Good reporting skills, Team player at all levels in the company, pro-active attitude, Ownership, results driven, Residence in the Netherlands.You do not meet all requirements?
