Network Administrator
Position Summary Responsible for installing, maintaining and supporting computer communication networks within and between the organizations various locations (LAN, WAN and Remote Access). This includes planning, architecting, securing, installing, configuring, supporting, and optimizing all local and wide area network devices, corporate servers, Cisco network devices, associated software, and communication links. Manages performance and maintains security of LAN, WAN, and Wireless infrastructure. The Network Administrator will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments. Minimum Qualifications Work Experience BS Degree in an Information Technology related field (OR) Two-year technical degree or equivalent and 2 years applicable work experience (OR) 5 years applicable work experience required.
Education BS Degree in an Information Technology related field preferred.
Certifications/Licensure Valid Kentucky driver’s license required. Motor vehicle record check required and will be performed annually. Personal vehicle is routinely used for company business, home visits or required for the position. The employee is responsible to maintain KY minimum limit of insurance coverage on the personal vehicle and maintain the vehicle in good operating condition.  Job Specific Performance Standards The duties listed below are a summary of the major essential functions of this position.   Responsibilities include installing, maintaining and securing LAN, WAN, WLAN, Server, VOIP, and workstation connectivity.  Responds to system outages troubleshoots to resolve issues with all enterprise networking devices and technologies.  Documents all LAN, WAN, WLAN, Remote Access flow and equipment used in the setup.  Monitors and conducts performance tuning of networks and servers.  Maintains high level of technical expertise and studies vendor products to determine those which best meet the corporation’s needs. Performs analytical, technical, and administrative work in the planning, design, and implementation of new and existing hardware and software.  Confers with end users and departments to determine types of hardware and software required.  Evaluates new products/technology to determine impact on existing system configurations.  Provides integrated team support and maintenance to all PC, Server, LAN, WLAN, and WAN related hardware and software. Responsible for performing data backups and configuration backup for network devices.  Responsible for monitoring and auditing enterprise network for any security violations and threats. Responsible for the protection of data and network from inadvertent or unauthorized persons or unauthorized purposes.  Responsible for firewalls, VPNs, encryption, and other security technologies. Works closely with IT Security Officer on Information Security and compliance initiatives. Establishes and implements technical and security standards for LAN, WLAN, and WAN, Servers, and workstations.  Helps develop security procedures and ensures that the policies and procedures are implemented and enforced. Assists in the development, implementation, and management of disaster recovery systems.  Trains and assists staff in using hardware and software efficiently.  Assists Application Analysts, Informatics Staff, Programmer/Analysts, System Administrators, Technical Support Specialists, Help Desk Technicians, and users in the testing, debugging, implementation, and maintenance of new or enhanced peripheral equipment and software. Participates in team projects that enhance the quality and efficiency of the Information Systems Department service.  Communicates with management to determine priorities among projects.  Responds and informs various departments in advance of scheduled down item so they may plan their workload accordingly. Utilizes Help Desk system to document issues and resolutions. Communicates relevant information between management, peers, and users to facilitate efficient organizational performance. Operates company vehicle.  Adheres to driving laws and regulations and assures safe operation of vehicle.  Conducts general maintenance checks on company vehicle.  Reports maintenance issues.  Maintains record of maintenance checks.
