Network Administrator I ***(- Diego Garcia)Diego, Garcia **Requires US Citizenship** **Employment Term and Type:** Regular, Full Time **Required Security Clearance:** Active DoD Secret Clearance **Required** : Current US Passport **Required Education:** HighSchool Diploma with minimum 2+ years relevant experience **Job Description:** We are seeking a **Cisco Network Technician** to support the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) of a large U.S. Air Force network in Diego Garcia. This role provides hands-on network administration, troubleshooting, and maintenance for Cisco-based infrastructure in a mission-critical environment. The ideal candidate will possess foundational networking knowledge, experience with Cisco devices, and the ability to work in a remote operational setting. **Primary Duties and Responsibilities:** + Assist in the daily operations, monitoring, and maintenance of Cisco network devices, including switches, routers, and firewalls. + Support network configuration, troubleshooting, and performance optimization. + Monitor network performance and resolve connectivity issues. + Provide support for network security measures, including access control, encryption, and VPNs. + Assist with software upgrades, patches, and configuration changes. + Respond to service requests and incidents related to network operations. + Collaborate with senior network engineers to enhance network infrastructure reliability. + Document network configurations, issues, and resolutions in accordance with Air Force policies. + Ensure compliance with DoD security standards and policies, including Risk Management Framework (RMF) requirements. **Required Qualifications** + Current US Passport + Current IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA+, etc.). + 2+ years of experience in network administration or technical support. + Basic understanding of Cisco networking concepts, including VLANs, routing, and switching. + Familiarity with TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and network security principles. + Experience with troubleshooting network connectivity issues. + Ability to work effectively in an isolated, remote environment. + Strong communication and documentation skills. **Preferred Qualifications:** + Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification. + Experience working in a military or DoD IT environment. + Familiarity with DoD network policies and procedures. + Experience with Cisco IOS, firewall configurations, and network monitoring tools. **Physical, Work Environment & Conditions:** + Typical office environment: + Must be able to sit or stand at a workstation for extended periods. + Occasional standing while working in server rooms or at patch panels. + Must be able to lift and move moderately heavy equipment (e.g., routers, switches, servers) typically up to 30–50 pounds. + Manual Dexterity required for connecting cables, configuring devices, and handling small tools or components. + Must be able to view computer screens for long periods. + Ability to distinguish color-coded cabling and indicator lights. + Must be able to climb ladders or crawl in tight spaces for cable runs or equipment installation. + May require walking between different buildings or workstations. + Must be able to communicate clearly with technical teams and end-users. + May need to hear alarms, server beeps, or equipment noises indicating issues. **Location** : Diego Garcia (remote military installation).
