Campus Title Network Analyst Department Computing & Information Technology Position Summary This is an exciting opportunity for a new college graduate or someone with experience who wants to grow their skills!

Computing and Information Technology at SUNY Geneseo seeks to hire a Network Analyst to join the Network & Information Security Operations group. The network analyst provides support and maintains the Cisco Telephony, campus wired and wireless network, and various security devices.

Summary of Responsibilities

Installation and administration of Cisco telephony services. Provide support and administration for campus wired and wireless networking. Supporting network switching and routing. Provide support and administration for FortiGate firewalls and other security technology. Supporting Microsoft 365 collaboration and Cisco Webex. Manage security of supported services. Provide integration between supported services. Provide customer support for services. Learn and improve skills related to supported services and operating systems including Cisco IOS, GitHub, JIRA, and others.


Salary: $64,000 – $70,000 commensurate with experience.

Required Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field by time of appointment Demonstrated analysis and problem-solving skills Demonstrated ability to grow and learn Experience administering and supporting networking and computing technology. Ability to troubleshoot complex technical problems involving multiple systems, networking, and services Excellent communication skills Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive working/teaching environment Ability to work evenings and weekends on an occasional basis to support critical issues and project upgrades


Preferred Qualifications Experience providing IT customer support. Experience managing Cisco telephony services. Experience managing Cisco networking and Meraki WiFi. Experience managing FortiGate firewall services. Experience using scripting languages to automate tasks


License/Certification Other Skills Required Supervision Received This position reports to the Director for Network & Information Security Operations. The Network Analyst works independently under the direction of the director. The director routinely meets 1:1 to provide guidance and direction for their work. Follow CIT Policy and Procedures as defined by the Director and CIT Management Team. Attend CIT department meetings and regularly scheduled functional area meetings. Post time off to CIT department calendar. Complete time off and travel requests, etc. Perform incidental duties associated with day-to-day functions of the offices of Computing & Information Technology, most of which entail front-line interaction with campus computer users, both in person and by telephone. Resolve computing problems for “walk-in” users. Answer the telephone and take messages. Cover for staff absences. Complete purchase requisitions. Post, in a timely manner, to the status web page any scheduled changes and down times, outages, and problems when appropriate. Contribute to publication of technical and informational newsletters, electronic communications, bulletins, and CIT web pages where appropriate. Contribute to the instruction of training courses for campus computing users and staff where appropriate. Communicate regularly with colleagues and clients to keep them informed of activities and projects that interest or affect them. Report regularly to the Director and your area manager on the status of ongoing projects. Be conscious of CIT’s reputation on campus and work to improve it by effective communication, knowledgeable technical support, and offering new services when appropriate. Actively participate in CIT strategic planning and assessment processes. Participate when requested on CIT Project Teams where your expertise is required and/or you have the opportunity to acquire new and relevant skills.
