Network Analyst
Description The Network Engineer performs advanced network duties related to the deployment and ongoing support of critical network infrastructure systems. The Network Engineer oversees activities associated with local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), Internet, intranet systems, and other data networks. This includes planning, designing, and integrating data telecommunications networks, as well as installing, configuring, and monitoring network devices. The role also involves monitoring and analyzing existing hardware and software, developing policies and procedures, preparing budget recommendations, and evaluating potential network enhancements. The Network Engineer provides essential support for internal administrative systems and the networks that transport critical communications, including designing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining local and wide area networks, routers, switches, gateways, and application servers. The role also involves being available 24/7 for network support and problem resolution. The Network Engineer may supervise, train, and mentor staff as needed. Requirements + Perform network administration tasks, such as installing and configuring network infrastructure, onboarding network devices into monitoring and security platforms, and implementing maintenance processes to ensure network stability and performance. + Develop, implement, and follow change management practices to ensure all work is documented and meets organizational requirements. + Develop policies and procedures to ensure the integrity of local and wide area network environments. + Lead studies regarding system usage, making recommendations for improvements, and determining network system requirements. + Direct and perform tuning and capacity planning activities to enhance the performance of network resources. + Assist in developing project plans, including timelines, for the scheduled refresh and network upgrades of existing systems. + Document network information, including diagrams, IP addresses, circuits, network device configurations, inventory, changes, and outage information. + Analyze and define disaster recovery responsibilities and procedures for the network. + Review network system plans for accuracy and completeness, and plan and schedule network studies and system implementations. + Be available 24/7 for network trouble resolution via phone, electronically, or in person. + Review network availability and performance reports, determine necessary changes, and implement corrective actions. + Monitor, analyze, and resolve technical issues for established networks. + Troubleshoot and document network production issues, ensuring rapid resolution. + Determine operational, technical, and support requirements for the installation, operation, and maintenance of critical network infrastructure. + Support the organization’s objectives in the design, planning, installation, maintenance, and security of network facilities. + Monitor and define the security requirements of the enterprise network, ensuring compliance with best practices and cybersecurity standards. + Coordinate with staff and external contractors/vendors as necessary to maintain network operations.
