POSITION TITLE:      Network Analyst III

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Network Analyst, III, supporting the IT Services Department at Scripps Research in La Jolla, California, home some of the world’s most renowned scientists.  This is a great opportunity for someone who is savvy with the process of desktop computer network connections.  The Network Analyst would be responsible for installing and replacing switches and wireless networks all while working with the Information Security and Datacenter teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Responsible for the processing of desktop computer network connection requests and change orders for all departments and laboratories with the assistance of junior network staff. Assigns TCP/IP addresses, manages network switches and wireless networks which includes allocation, configuration, and capacity planning. Installs and replaces network switches in communications closets and computer rooms throughout the TSRI facility. Monitors network for failing equipment, suboptimal performance, virus/worm outbreaks or compromises, reacting appropriately and promptly and in coordination with other IT staff and leadership. Maintains record tracking and workflow of all requests. Monitors, maintains and upgrades hardware components of wired and wireless computer network. Evaluates new hardware and related technologies, including copper, fiber, laser, and RF, to improve performance and/or allow for increased usage. Installs hardware additions and upgrades including routers, switches, access points and wireless controllers. Manages, configures, and supports network authentication mechanisms such as RADIUS and Cisco Integrated Services Engine (ISE). Develops and maintains hardware configuration, software upgrades, and hardware repairs. Details of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process. 

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

BA/BS degree or equivalent experience and 5-10 years related experience. Strong analytical, verbal and written communications skills, as well as a strong attention to detail. Must have knowledge of TCP/IP networking and be familiar with Cisco IOS and Cisco ASA. Basic administration of UNIX computers and maintenance of BIND/DNS is necessary. Moderate fluency with standard UNIX scripting and tools such as “make” is required. Ability to work regularly with computer-rack mounted equipment, fiber and copper patch cables is required. Cisco certifications preferred. This is an on-campus position requiring 4 days per week working onsite from our La Jolla campus, with flexibility to work 1 day per week remotely from home. 

 

COMPENSATION:

The expected hiring range for this position is $88,500 annually to $110,000 annually, commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.
