Position Overview 

 

The Network Design Engineer role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities including network design strategy, network engineering, implementation assistance, migration planning, service design, proof of concept testing, optimization services, and customer training. 
 

 

Essential Job Functions

 

Technical expertise on Layer 1,2 and 3 carrier networks. Produce the best architecture available to support our network and customer services. Produce network implementation and migration plans. Oversee equipment and service configuration on Network Infrastructure. Test and Support networks in various stages of deployment. Assess customer networks for implementation of FBL products. Formulate network management strategies. Produce and review technical statements of work documentation. Provide appropriate training and assistance to FBL employees. Work with internal technical teams and vendor for product placement and feature improvements for reliability, availability, and serviceability. Work closely with vendors to test, design, and plan for deployments of new products and features. Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers & "vendor" technical management and teams.  Support Operations during outages needing Engineering support or escalation to equipment vendors. Develop and maintain in-depth technical and marketing knowledge of key product lines.

 

Requirements

BA in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Information Technology or related telecommunication industry experience.6+ years’ experience.Telecom experience preferred.Technical knowledge of transport, routing and switching, and carrier technologies. 

  

Other Skills/Abilities

Configures, tests, maintains and troubleshoots Network Infrastructure. Identifies, diagnoses and resolves network issues.  Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks. Provide pre and post-sale technical support as needed. Daily maintenance and problem resolution, operating system patches and software upgrades and routine hardware configuration.
