Thales Underwater Systems cover a broad portfolio of engineering challenges, working at the forefront of the exciting area of remotely operated unmanned vehicles for maritime/naval operations, the introduction into service of new sonar capabilities to surface and submarine platforms in the UK and around the world, and the support for all Thales in-service sonar systems.
We are currently recruiting for a Network Engineer to support design, development and test of customer configured solutions. This including within the development of systems in a maritime/safety critical environment and supporting large complex systems.
Responsibilities Include
Work within the network architecture including compliance to protocols, Quality of Service, addressing scheme and cyber security measuresSupport the Network Test & Integration Strategy.Agree the Integration, Verification and Validation Methods.Satisfy the requirement set through design and development activities. Implement the network architecture in physical form, fit and functionUnderstanding and/or experience of Network Test and Acceptance requirements in regulated settingsDemonstrate compliance to the requirements set through integration, verification and validation activities including production of Test Reports and certificates.Carry out network engineering activities in a team/multi-stakeholder/multi-discipline environment.Essential
Experience in LAN/WAN administrationGood all-round technical Networking KnowledgeDesigning IP based Networks. ·Network security, using ACLs, State full Firewalls and Stateless FirewallsUnderstanding of the TCP/IP protocol stackUnderstanding of the ISO protocol stackUnderstanding of Layer 3 routing protocols including OSPF and Multicast PIMLinux experience (command line/scripting)General understanding of Engineering Development lifecycles.Security Clearance statement
Due to the nature of the work that we do at Thales, many of our roles are subject to security restrictions. This role requires you to be a UK National and achieve Security Clearance (SC) without any caveats. It would be advantageous if currently held, however, if not currently held, it is a requirement that the successful applicant undergo, achieve, and maintain SC Clearance prior to commencing employment. To be eligible for full SC, you generally need to have resided in the UK for the last 5 years. In some circumstances, a minimum of 3 years’ residence in the UK over the last 5 years may be accepted, with additional overseas checks.
