MITRE’s Classified Enterprise Infrastructure is looking for a Senior Network Engineer to support multiple environments in Bedford MA. The Senior Network Engineer will oversee the implementation, security, and maintenance of our network infrastructure. This role requires a deep understanding of network architecture, protocols, and security. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing large-scale and air-gapped networks and a proven track record of optimizing network performance. Candidate must be able to speak comfortably from a technical perspective with clients, our partners, and within the team.


Roles & Responsibilities:

•    Implement network solutions to support business requirements and strategic goals.
•    Manage and optimize the performance of the network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless systems.
•    Monitor network performance and troubleshoot complex network issues to ensure minimal downtime.
•    Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
•    Implement and manage network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
•    Assist Network Lead with mentoring and guidance to junior network engineers and IT staff.
•    Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to recommend and implement improvements.


Basic Qualifications:

•    Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
•    Minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering, with a focus on design and implementation.
•    Extensive experience with network hardware and software, including Cisco, Juniper, or similar platforms.
•    Strong understanding of network protocols and technologies, such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VPN, and VLANs.
•    Proven experience with network security best practices and technologies, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and NAC.
•    Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
•    Experience with network monitoring and management tools.
•    Current Security +, CIISP, CySA+, or equivalent.
•    Active Secret clearance.

•   This position has an on-site requirement of 5 days a week on-site.

Preferred Qualifications: 

•    Ability to attain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
•    Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCIE, JNCIE) are highly desirable.
