The Network Engineer is involved in the design and maintenance of both the hardware and software necessary for a computer network. The Network Engineer is a high-level technical analyst, specializing in Local Area Networks (LANs)/Wide Area Networks (WANs), TCP/IP, and server/network infrastructure.
Position Description: Office of Administration requires the services of a Senior Network Engineer staff augmentation consultant to serve as the technical advisor for OA/OIT.
Specific Duties:
1. Work with OA/OIT management to validate network designs submitted by a vendor.
2. Serve a leading role as a subject matter expert on network architecture on large, complex network deployments and infrastructure projects.
3. Work with OA/OIT staff at all levels to assist with the adaptation of the policies and standards associated with implementing a new network infrastructure.
4. Research and evaluate emerging IT technologies and practices and develop strategies and plans to implement them at OA/OIT as appropriate.
5. Educate and mentor OA/OIT staff in concepts, methods, technologies and practices relating to network architecture.
Required Skills and Experience
1. Required: 7 – 10 years as a Senior Network Engineer
2. Required: 7+ years expert knowledge of Cisco IOS, Cisco hardware, Juniper Hardware and JUNOS software.
3. Required: 7+ years expert knowledge of TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, Service Provider/Extranet networks, Ethernet switching, BGP, EIGRP, SNMP, VPN, MPLS, Traffic Engineering and IPSEC.
4. Required: 7+ years progressive IT team leadership experience
5. Required: Current CCIE and/or CCNP/CCDA certification
6. Required: ITIL Foundation Certification
7. Required: Outstanding oral communication skills, including public speaking
8. Required: Outstanding written communication skills, including writing complex documents
