The Opportunity

The Network Management Section under Infrastructure Reliability Engineering Chapter is responsible for data and voice services infrastructure for Roche. 

The Data Network Team is responsible for the deployment of data network infrastructure and solutions to support Roche and its affiliates. Based on engineered standards, the team ensures that new solutions are deployed in a timely fashion to ensure service levels and customer expectations are met.

As a Network Engineer, you will be a key contributor to the Connectivity Product Line’s integrated network services. You will work on our enterprise and business systems network infrastructure on-premises and in public clouds and be on squads working closely with the relevant Product Managers and Product Owners to deliver network services to the stakeholders. 

Responsibilities:

Work with local and virtual teams with variable workload, in flexible working hours.

Collaborate with internal parties as well as external providers for projects, escalations and resolutions of problems.

Implement and maintain solutions that are based on our engineering standards. 

Update documentation of network operations and procedures, when required. 

Ensure that the network infrastructure is configured, monitored and maintained according to global standards & procedures and within the service level agreements.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or an equivalent discipline.

A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in supporting and implementing low to medium complexity data networks 

LAN (campus, data center & manufacturing). 

WLAN (on prem & cloud-managed).

Ability to work closely with local and virtual teams.

Excellent communication skills.

Knowledge of troubleshooting methodologies as they apply to resolving technical problems.

Knowledge of packet capture devices for network troubleshooting.

Working knowledge of end-to-end network architecture and experience in at least one related routing & switching theories and protocols.

TCP/IP protocol suite.

802.11 WLAN design and 802.11x protocols.

Campus and Data Center networks.

BGP and OSPF.

Knowledge of the following network services activities:

Lifecycle management.

Problem management.

Preferred Experience:

Experience in supporting and implementing complex data networks is a plus

WAN (core routing & SD WAN).

Experience in related routing & switching theories and protocols is a plus

SD WAN.

Experience in the following network services activities is a plus:

Network High Level Design & Low Level Design.

Network capacity planning.

Site relocation/expansion.

Experience with Cisco Wireless Network Design, troubleshooting, Implementation, and Optimization is a plus

Experience in supporting global wide area networks and remote local area networks in multiple locations is a plus. 

Experience with scripting & network automation (Ansible, Python, Perl etc.) is a plus.

Experience in cloud networking is a plus.

Experience with virtualization & containerization is a plus.

Working knowledge of security devices such as firewalls, proxies and VPNs, understanding of authentication and data encryption, is a plus.

Experience in working with external vendors, telecom carriers and service providers is a plus.

Working knowledge and experience in the SAFe Agile delivery framework and usage of ServiceNOW for IT service management process is a plus. 

Active CCNA / CCNP, CCIE or similar certification is a plus.

Fluent in Spanish (spoken) is a plus.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California state is $79,400 - $147,400.  Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.  This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
