WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Designs and plans network systems and possess a complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories and concepts in the field.
Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
Provides specific, detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.
Conducts testing of network systems and maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, switches, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
Evaluate and report on new network technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
Ability to provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.
Solutions should be imaginative, thorough, practicable and consistent with organization objectives.
Contributes to completion of specific programs and projects.
Works under very general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions.
Work is/may be reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives. Frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts.
Represents organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.
Interacts frequently with internal and external management and senior-level customer representatives concerning projects, operational decisions, scheduling requirements, and/or contractual clarifications.
Leads briefings and technical meetings for internal and external representatives.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Requirements:
Network Engineering work experience utilizing DNAC, NDFC, AFI etc.
Experience with regards to network design and projects (vs hands on network troubleshooting, maintaining).
Understanding of TCP/IP fundamentals (e.g. DNS, FTP, SSH, ACL, VLAN, DMZ, BGP), general networking technologies, network architecture and connectivity troubleshooting.
Ability to describe and troubleshoot routing and switching issues.
Network design, engineering, and implementation (Advanced Level).
Creation of network related Rough Order Magnitude (ROM) equipment lists and costing.
Understanding and experience with the DoD Architecture Framework and other key DoD network architecture and strategic planning instructions.
Thorough experience performing packet capture analysis or running Wireshark is highly desirable.
Review and/or approve Network engineering documentation to ensure that processes and specifications meet network needs and are accurate, comprehensive, and all encompassing.
Establish and follow a formal procedure for coordinating Network integration activities among multiple teams, ensuring complete coverage of all interfaces.
Capture all interface designs in a common interface control format, and store interface data in a commonly accessible repository.
Experience Required:
5+ years related technical experience in Network and Transport technologies, tools, and techniques.
5+ years experience with large-scale enterprise/global networks in a high paced diverse environment
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent amount of experience/training in lieu of degree.
Certifications Required:
IAT II 8570/8140 Baseline Certification Security+ or equivalent
CCNA certification is required.
Security Clearance Required: Active TS/SCI clearance required
Preferred Certifications/Desired Skills:
CCNP, CCDP certifications (or equivalent).
Designing, implementing, and troubleshooting Cisco ACI-based networks.
Manage and support the Cisco ISE solution across the organization.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate ISE with other network components.
Additional information regarding this role:
Requires interpersonal skills and ability to work independently with little direction and guidance.
Requires ability to work weekends and evening hours as needed. Some travel may be required to support the mission.
Position may require lifting of objects (i.e. IT Hardware), reaching/bending/kneeling (i.e. plug in cables) and other moderately strenuous activity.
