Job Description
The Network Engineer is a key role within the central university office, responsible for managing voice and data communications systems. This position requires a deep understanding of various data platforms, support applications, and networking infrastructure. The Network Engineer will provide technical expertise in designing and configuring network infrastructure, ensuring the stability and improvement of Emory's enterprise network.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead projects aimed at enhancing and stabilizing the network.
Apply knowledge of network optimization tools to improve performance.
Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot network services and devices.
Interact with customers to understand their needs and engineer solutions to resolve network issues.
Perform inspections and upgrades of network systems.
Develop and maintain documentation for network design and troubleshooting.
Design system configurations and collaborate with others for active maintenance and future growth.
Set policies, guidelines, and best practices for network management.
Act as a subject matter expert for the Enterprise network and provide auxiliary support for other Emory IT services.
Support other Office of Information Technology (OIT) and Healthcare staff in troubleshooting system issues and resolving network-related problems.
Provide 24x7 on-call support to assist with restoring service during major outages.
Demonstrate leadership and mentoring abilities to less-experienced engineers.
Perform other duties as required.
Day-to-Day Activities:
Work on various projects such as code testing, planning building migrations, building VPNs, and testing new equipment.
Collaborate with team members and customers to ensure network stability and performance.
Perform scheduled night work and weekend work as needed, with a typical day shift from 9 AM to 4 PM.
Additional Information:
Experience in healthcare or university settings is beneficial but not required.
The position requires two days onsite work per week, with some weekend and night work.
The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, able to quickly understand and adapt to new technologies, and possess strong problem-solving skills.

Compensation:
90K-110K - Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Skills and Requirements
-Proficiency with NDFC (Cisco orchestration tool) or its predecessor, DCNM.
-Knowledge of VXLAN and its application in network setup.
-Strong project management skills, including the ability to ask the right questions and keep projects moving forward.
-Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field, and five years of related IT experience, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. null
