Network Engineer

Job Overview:

The Network Engineer’s role is to assist in design, build, and implement network systems across the enterprise. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all local and wide area network connections, associated software, and communication links. This person will also troubleshoot network performance issues, as well as analyze network traffic and provide capacity planning solutions. Provides second and third level support to our customer base. Interfaces with vendor support service groups to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance.

Work Location:

Works from home, but must live within 120 miles of Cincinnati for in-person team meetings, project discussions, trainings, etc.

Work Hours:

Full-time position: 80 hours bi-weekly Day shift



Job Requirements:

Associate's Degree or Diploma 
Equivalent experience accepted in lieu of degree
Technical knowledge of network systems, protocols, and standards 
Network management and analysis tools 
Working in and configuring switched and routed environment 
Hardware, software, and network connection troubleshooting
3-4 years experience in a related field

Job Responsibilities:

Provides network technical support to I.S. staff and users. Provide guidance to other I.S. Network Service members.
Assists in the planning and implementing of any improvement, modification, or replacement of network infrastructure components. Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.
Monitors and analyze network performance across the organization’s LANs, WANs, and wireless deployments using sophisticated network management tools. Ensure the stable operation and efficient performance of company networks. Monitors system capacity to determine its affect on performance and recommend enhancements to meet new or changing network demands.
Demonstrates flexibility and initiative in seeking and/or accepting additional assignments.
Assists in resource planning, project scheduling, and project plan development. Plan and manage budgeting for network hardware and software procurement. Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services.
