Network Engineer - Day Shift

**Description**
SAIC is looking for a **Network Engineer** with experience in US Navy IT networks to support the sustained operation and maintenance of a newly deployed US Navy enterprise transport network, ensuring 24/7/365 availability and reliability. The position will support end-to-end network, system, and element visibility; facilitate rapid operations, administration, maintenance, and provisioning to maintaining the operational integrity of a mission-critical network, requiring both technical expertise and a commitment to excellence in service delivery. **This position will work a schedule of 7AM – 3 PM, 5 days per week to include weekends and a rotating on call requirement.**
**Work will be performed at the Navy customer’s site in Suffolk, VA.**

**Specific duties include:**
+ Provide Tier 1 level engineering operations support to quickly identify, triage, and address outages, analyzing symptoms and potential root causes to implement effective resolutions or escalate to Tier 2/Tier 3 support as required.
+ Utilize advanced monitoring tools and processes to oversee network infrastructure, monitor the performance and availability of managed services and systems across multiple exchange points, and ensure optimal performance.
+ Perform day to day maintenance, fixes, configuration corrections, software and hardware updates, and deployments.
+ Adhere to system and operational reporting obligations.
+ Operate and maintain the privileged access solutions.
+ Maintain continuous verification of failover processes and disaster recovery procedures.
+ Operate and maintain hardware upgrade process and procedures.
+ Update and maintain any software builds applicable to deployed equipment.
+ Enact change management for the solution.
+ Operate and maintain existing incident management processes.
+ Keep firmware, software updates and patches up to date for equipment.
+ Support the design, analysis, planning, modification and maintenance of the network and network components supporting data, voice and/or audio communication activities.
+ Support analysis of short/long term capacity needs for switching, routing transmission and signaling.
+ Conducts testing of network systems.
+ Support the evaluation of new network technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
**Qualifications**
**Required Education and Years of Experience:**
+ Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or a related discipline and two (2) years relevant experience supporting a large network infrastructure.
+ 4 years of additional experience can be considered in lieu of degree.
**Required Security Clearance:**
+ Secret Clearance required.
**Required Skills and Experience:**
+ Experience required with: Routing Protocols (OSPF, BGP); Access Control Lists; Layer 2 Switching; Spanning Tree; Packet Analysis; SPINE-LEAF architecture.
+ Experience with the following is a plus: Arista switches; Palo Alto Firewalls; TAP and network visibility (i.e. Gigamon, NetScout); SD-WAN and Spine-Leaf Architecture; working with VLANs and VRFs; configuring IPSEC tunnels; and troubleshooting routing issues.
+ Working knowledge of SD-WAN, Routers, Switches, Firewalls, and Virtual Private Network devices.
+ Understanding of TCP/IP in regard to routing and subnetting.
+ Capable of supporting TACACS+ on Cisco ISE and ISE Cube.
**Required Certifications:**
+ IAT Level II required (Sec +), CCNA/CCNP.
**Working Environment:**
+ Able to work shifts to cover a 24x7 operational environment.
+ Able to cover on-call schedule on a rotating basis.
+ Travel up to 25% may be required.
