Network Engineer II – NOC

As a Network Engineer II on our NOC team based in Chantilly, VA, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional technical support and maintaining high-performance network solutions for our customers. You'll collaborate with a skilled team to handle technical escalations, ensure network uptime, and provide outstanding service delivery. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Handle tickets submitted by users and customer points of contactMonitor and respond to alerts on network equipment such as firewalls, routers, switches, WLAN Controllers, WAPs, and FMCsSupport and troubleshoot firewalls, routers, switches, wireless, and other components of LAN and WAN networks from a wide variety of vendorsMaintain and upgrade/update network infrastructureMaintain network performance through network monitoring and analysis, performance tuning, troubleshooting network problems, and escalating issues to vendorsPromote network security by maintaining proper network access control, evaluating security policies/rules, and maintaining documentationEnsure network device firmware and Cisco IOS images including FMC, FTD, ASA, WLC, routers, and switches are up to date for all customers, performing upgrades when necessaryWork with monitoring tools, logs, and management portals to investigate issues with network traffic and performanceCollaborate and communicate with other team members to provide excellent service and ticket resolutionAct as a mentor to junior Red River engineersAssist with call center activities during peak periods, addressing technical inquiries and support ticketsProvide basic triage for end-user or T1 systems issues/requests, troubleshooting and escalating as needed

Minimum Experience:

3+ years of network engineering experience includingBasic understanding of routing protocolsBasic understanding wireless LAN technologiesBasic understanding of various WAN connectivity designs (Metro-E, MPLS, P2P, SD-WAN)Intermediate understanding of Cisco ASA, Catalyst/Nexus switching, and WLANIntermediate understanding of IPSEC VPN configurationsFirm understanding of TCP/IP and core networking fundamentals masteryExperience troubleshooting/configuring firewalls from multiple common vendorsExperience working with multiple environments that utilize a wide variety of network infrastructureExperience working with ServiceNow or a similar ticketing system

Desired Experience:

Experience with Meraki switching, wireless, and security appliances desiredExperience with multi-vendor routing, switching, WLAN-security, Microsoft Teams, and Cisco UC desiredExperience working at an IT MSP desiredExperience with SD-WAN technologies such as EdgeConnect or VeloCloud desired

Education and Certifications:

Required certifications: CCNADesired Certifications: CCNP, Palo Alto Certified Network Security Administrator (PCNSA)Bachelor’s degree desired

Additionally, an ideal candidate will possess:

Strong consulting and communication skillsConfidence and experience working directly with clientsStrong ability to work in a team-based environmentAbility to be a self-starter with advanced time management skills
