Semper Valens Solutions is looking for a Network Engineer. The opportunity relates to prototyping integration facility (PIF) at Aberdeen Proving Ground MD\n

Duties:\n\nPlans, designs, and evaluates new and existing computer network systems and services, including local area networks, wide area networks, intranets, and the Internet, providing analytical, technical, and administrative support.\nPlans, oversees, develops, and implements network policies and procedures and ensures network integrity as maintenance and modification projects to existing applications are undertaken.\nTroubleshoots network issues. Installs and upgrades network equipment and software.\nCreates and maintains documentation relating to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records.\nEstablishes and documents network technical support processes and procedures.\nPractices network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications.\nEstablishes voice and network standards regarding new technologies and applications.\nMonitors and tests network performance and provides network performance statistics and reports.\nActs as technical liaison between clients, customers, and vendors resolve issues as needed.\nPlans, supports and evaluates complex existing network systems and make recommendations for resources required to maintain and\/or expand service levels.\nProvide technical assistance in network planning, engineering and architecture.\nProvides and develops technical standards and interface applications; identifies and evaluates new products; provide solutions for network problems.\nInterfaces with internal\/external customers and vendors to determine system needs.\nPlans and incorporates how new network resources and applications will exist on the network.\nProvide monthly metrics for network availability and bandwidth usage as well as other metrics as requested.\nResponsible for network capacity planning.\nUse network management tools to discover, map and maintain the network.\nResponsible for network equipment OS and version upgrades.\nResponsible for conducting research of new technologies and implementation strategies.\nMonitor and maintain network interfaces to insure its highest level of performance and makes modifications and enhancements as needed.\nResponsible for documenting procedures and keeping network diagrams and related material up to date.\nHandle escalated user problems, questions, and request on network issues.\nWork with other groups to resolve network related issues.\nOther duties as assigned.\n\n

Required Skills & Experience:\n\nDetailed-oriented with excellent technical, verbal, and written communication skills.\nDirect experience in the design, development, integration and analysis of hardware projects.\nProficiency with hardware test protocols, virtual software applications such as VMWARE and common operating systems such as UNIX\/RedHat Linux and Windows.\nRequires strong communication skills both verbal and written, skilled mechanical engineering, electronics engineering for Space, Weight, Environmental and Power or Electromagnetic Interference or Compatibility.\nExperience in developing policy on protection of program technologies.\nDrafted and had approved Security Classification Guides.\n\n

Qualifications:\n\nBachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems, Business or related scientific \/technical discipline.\n \n1-10+ years' experience.\n \n8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.\n\n

Travel:\n

Less than 30% travel is expected for this position. Travel may include continental United States and outside continental United States locations.\n
