Summary The Network Infrastructure Engineer 2 provides expert judgment and analysis for the design, development and implementation of technical products and systems. Resolves highly complex technical issues and conducts advanced research. The Network Infrastructure Engineer 2 also recommends alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures. Responsible for installing, maintaining, Security, Monitoring, and supporting computer communication networks both LAN and WAN within the organization or between organizations that are connected to the LHC network. To ensure the smooth operation of communication networks in order to provide maximum performance and availability for users, such as staff, clients, customers and suppliers. Monitor and maintains network node up times and connectivity issues escalated by the first line of support or tier two. Plan and execute routine preventative maintenance. Provide training and technical support for users and IT staff with varying levels of IT knowledge and competence on how to troubleshoot and identify network issues. Assist other staff, such as help-desk technicians and tier 2 personnel. Work closely with other departments/organizations and collaborating with other IT staff as needed to develop, plan and implement new technologies. A wide degree of creativity and latitude while being conscious of business cost is executed while planning for future growth, and improving current network infrastructure. Responsibilities Patch Management: Develop Patch schedule for enterprise; Monitor, receive, review, test and expedite patches; validate 100%compliance with patching schedule; and mitigate unresolved updates. IOS Upgrades: Develop/Implement/Coordinate upgrade strategy; Test and pilot upgrades whenever possible; Ensure rollback procedures are documented; Validate all stakeholders have been notified; and Ensure systems compatibility with current enterprise infrastructure Backup/Restore: Develop/Implement backup strategy; Test backups whenever possible; Validate all backup are current according to schedule; Identify location for all copies of running configurations to be stored Site Baseline: Collect WAN statistics for all locations to establish a baseline of normal operating behavior; Record and maintain semi-annual baselines; Develop Routine Service Schedule Change Management: Develop proposed changes; Maintain documentation on all recorded changes; Validate all stakeholders have been notified; Ensure systems compatibility with current enterprise infrastructure Decommission Equipment: Identify and plan equipment to be decommissioned Acquisition/Integration: Design network integration plan; Identify circuit type and equipment to be used; Mitigate configuration issues Security: Plan and schedule mitigation of vulnerabilities discovered and reported from audits ; Submit new technologies and changes for evaluation for implementation Log Management: Collect, analyze, and report on logs from all network systems; Ensure alerts are configured; Ensure all logs are forwarded to Log Collection system Works with vendors to get our networking equipment configured and setup for moves, startups and acquisitions. Ability to go to leadership with solutions to issues not just the issues themselves. Any other duties as assigned. Education and Experience Formal Education: Associate Degree or certification equivalent Experience: 3 years License, Registration, and / or Certification Requirement: Yes Bachelor's Degree and/or one of the following: Cisco CCNA, CCNP or CCIE Certification Cisco CCNA Certification Ability to personally and work with partners and vendors to bring enterprise network solutions at a secure and efficient level.
