A week in the life of a Network Engineer:

Collaborate with systems architects to design, implement, and optimize customer networks IAW ICD 503  Design and deploy functional networks (e.g. LAN, WLAN, WAN) Investigating and resolving operational problems. Working on teams responsible for engineering and packaging releases  Plan and lead network projects for network installation and upgrade Responsible for all network data transport (Layer 3 and below) and overall network traffic routing Manage IP address space allocation and track IP address permanent assignments  Create and implement network security measures (access authentication, STIG implementation, etc.)  Design, configure, deploy, and maintain firewalls. Monitor syslog events and implement changes to improve security posture.  Work with systems administrators, cyber security officers and CNDSP  Assist cyber security officers to collect and report information required during RMF A&A activities. Conduct regular network performance tests. Resolve escalated network support issues and document resolution Research and analyze new network technologies and present suggestions for upgrades for network improvement
