Job Description:
GDIT is looking for a Network Infrastructure Technician - Tier 1 to support all aspects of network operations activities and projects for the USCENTCOM Information Technology Services (CITS) Program supporting the USCENTCOM J6 in Tampa, FL.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in the maintenance, support, and troubleshooting of our network systems, ensuring efficient and secure operations. This is an entry-level in network administration, offering growth opportunities and hands-on experience with network hardware, software, and various IT tools.
Education and/or Certifications:
Required:
- High school diploma; Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field is preferred.
-Applicable DoD 8140 or DoD 8570 Certification
-Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating potential network issues.
-Strong interpersonal and communication skills to convey technical information to non-technical staff and coordinate effectively across teams.
Desired:
- Cisco Certified CCNA, CCNP
Required Skills:
-Eagerness to learn new technologies and take on additional responsibilities over time.
-Basic knowledge of TCP/IP, LAN/WAN technologies, network protocols, and familiarity with network hardware.
-Assist in monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining network infrastructure, including switches, routers, and firewalls.
-0 - 2 years of experience in network support or IT helpdesk roles is a plus
-Support the installation, configuration, and testing of network hardware and software, ensuring connectivity for all devices and end-users.
-Strong analytical skills with a focus on troubleshooting and diagnosing network issues
-Ability to communicate technical issues clearly and professionally with non-technical staff.
-Respond to user inquiries and issues related to network connectivity, performing basic diagnostics, and escalating more complex issues as needed.
-Maintain detailed records of network configurations, incidents, and changes in network topology.
-Update network diagrams, inventories, and other related documentation.
-Work closely with senior network technicians, IT support, and other departments to ensure seamless network operations and assist with ongoing projects.
-Basic understanding of network security concepts.
-Basic understanding of VPN Technologies (IPSEC, DMVPN, S2S, L3VPN, VPLS)
-Basic understanding of the following routing protocols: EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP
-Ability to work weekends and evening hours as needed
-Ability to work independently with little direction and guidance
-Review and/or approve Network engineering documentation to ensure that processes and specifications meet Network needs and are accurate, comprehensive, and complete
Desired Skills:
- Experience with USCENTCOM and familiarity with its mission
- Knowledge and familiarity with USCENTCOM’s IT environment
Clearance Requirement:
- Active TS/SCI
Travel Requirements:
- Required USCENTCOM Exercise support of up to 10% Travel during the Year to OCONUS Locations
