Description/Comment: Implements and directs maintenance of complex multi-vendored security environment.

Determine standards for implementation and configuration of software, hardware and system capabilities.

Act as a second resource for problem determination for physical network problem resolution in terms of access, security breaches, as well as abuse, and policy changes.

Education: Computer Science 

Requires 5 years of experience in technical related infrastructure/network security environments with focus on Checkpoint FW Support.

Major Responsibilities:  Can perform all the functions of the Enterprise Security Engineer. Implements fault tolerant network security configurations that meet the needs of enterprise requirements and are cost effective while adhering to standards of reliability, availability and serviceability.

Investigates complex network software problems and security threats; recommends, plans and implements solutions to protect the corporate infrastructure from outside threats, and collaborates with vendors, consultants and/or appropriate in-house personnel to design solutions.

Assesses and reports on the status of client.  Performs centrally based forensic duties and evaluation of security data under the direction of more experienced engineers or immediate Supervision.

Aid in creating, establishing and reviewing information security guidelines pertaining to the protection of data.

Demonstrates a detailed knowledge of the network infrastructure for which they provide administration and develops a working understanding of the inter-relationships between applications and network impact.

Resolves Tier 2 localized high impact network problems. Escalate problems like regional internet connectivity issues or gateway issues to vendors or Tier 3 as required. Participates in and interprets security audits performed by third party security vendor. Implements stop gap measures defined from audit results under the direction of more experienced engineers.

Perform as a key member of CSIRT in the security incident handling process revolving around information security issues. Assure technical development of other team members through sharing of knowledge and experience. Acts as technical project leader for medium size technical security projects that are repeatable (e.g., conversion of VPN client users to SSL VPN). Researches, recommends and justifies various security hardware and software purchases. Provides input into and participates in determining hardware, software and administrative standards and procedures.

Ensures that network/system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored to increase efficiency and reduce vulnerabilities. Participate in on call rotation and escalates issues as needed. Resolve complex help desk tickets and network security problems. Tracks and trends issues and drives resolution.

Acts in an escalation role with vendors and staff to coordinate application/operating system/network changes. Prioritizes cases/points as needed. Understands and follows change management processes.

Requires 5 years of experience in technical related infrastructure/network security environments with focus on Checkpoint FW Support.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Understanding of various aspects and components of the security infrastructure, including real-time intruder detection, intrusion prevension, firewalls, DMZs, TCP/IP, content filtering, virus scanning, SPAM , and security protocols (Ipsec, ssh, DNS, SMTP, POP, HTTP, SSL, PPP, TCP/IP, and vulnerability assessment tools and technologies.

Knowledge of Linux, AIX, SunOS, Solaris, UNIX , DOS, Windows operating environments. Comprehensive knowledge of networking to include OSI model, IP Subnetting, 10/100/1000 ethernet, wireless (802.11 a/b/g), packet analysis, Lan to Lan Tunneling, broadband technologies, OSPF, BGRP, VRRP, VLAN and QOS.

Packet analysis using tools like SNIFFER and open source tools.

Ability to work, independently, exercises judgment and creativity in analyzing and solving unusual problems or situations that arise. Good interpersonal skills and ability to provide excellent customer service.
