The Network Security (Firewall) Team Lead will collaborate with technical SMEs on Enterprise-wide solutions, participate in technical working groups, and contribute to technical advisory boards. Supports the compilation of records and reports concerning perimeter operations and maintenance to analyze the performance of perimeter security systems. This role requires someone with deep and proven technical acumen. It requires someone with the ability to work and communicate in a team environment and deal with complex technologies and concepts. Responsibilities Support the compilation of records and reports concerning perimeter operations and maintenance to analyze the performance of perimeter security systems. Provide input to the problem management process, including assessing and evaluating software and hardware anomalies. Support the root cause analysis efforts to determine problems and develop remediation activities. Interface with vendor support service groups to ensure proper support during outages or periods of degraded system performance. Design, architect, and troubleshoot complex networks with security devices within the path. Work with a team of engineers in support of a large complex network and work to proactively design solutions that run efficiently and are manageable. Responsible for the planning, design, implementation, organization, and operation of Palo Alto Firewalls based perimeter security network and network security devices including but not limited to Palo Alto FW's. Provide WAN Management Service for Remotely monitored and administered FWs for over 200 locations throughout the Country. Simultaneously work on the successful engineering, testing, and deployment of multiple projects. Responsible for the planning, design, implementation, organization, and operation of Cisco-based data communications network and network security devices. Responsible for troubleshooting network and firewall problems, specifically Palo Alto and Cisco ASA's. Monitor that the firewall and network system are adequately monitored to identify and solve data communication problems and user performance issues; this includes understanding chronic issues causing inefficiency in operation and seeking resolution. Be a subject matter expert on network and firewall-related issues. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED equivalent 8+ years of related technical experience 5+ years of experience in firewall administration, Network and Information Security, network administration, systems programming, systems design, or related technical specialties Experience in managing and administering network and firewall changes will be a bonus 3+ years of people management experience A minimum of an IAT Level II (DoD 8570.1M) certification is required: e.g. GIAC Security Essentials - GSEC; CompTIA Security+ CE; Security Certified Network Professional - SCNP; Systems Security Certified Practitioner - SSCP TS/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain a polygraph. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Requires in-depth knowledge of TCP/IP and communication protocols. Knowledge of IPSec, GRE tunnels, multicasting, and traffic balancing techniques essential Hands-on experience with all phases of firewall and network operations, firewall change requests, firewall configuration, network services, and network security Ability to troubleshoot complex multi-vendor network issues in the LAN and WAN networks and work with multiple application and system teams to identify bottlenecks and other network configuration issues Cisco Network Device Configuration Experience Expert-level understanding of all layers of the OSI model Expert level understanding of IP routing and switching Extensive experience with, but not limited to, the following vendors: Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, and Ixia How you’ll grow At Chenega MIOS, our professional development plan focuses on helping our team members at every level of their careers to identify and use their strengths to do their best work every day.
