This role offers a hybrid work schedule; offering the flexibility to work from home two days a week, while providing the opportunity for in-person collaboration. At M&T Tech, we’re a team of makers, doers, and builders, working to create the most advanced technology solutions in banking.  We’re not your stereotypical suit and tie bankers: we’re an innovative team of leading tech experts, pushing boundaries, and taking risks.  We’re building an agile team of the most skilled and creative workers to solve complex problems, architect solutions, write high-performance software, and chart our new path, all to make the lives of our customers, and the communities that we serve, better.  Join us and be part of something new as we build tomorrow’s bank, today.The Technology Infrastructure Engineering and Operations Team engineers and supports all the foundational technology used across M&T Bank.  We support two Data Centers, 15,000 Distributed platforms, 24 Mainframe Regions, a secure and reliable Network connecting all the technology across the bank footprint and process approximately 635,000 automated jobs per month.  In addition to that foundational technology level, we own the operational support processes, monitoring and command center that provide a unified, well-managed technology response when issues arise.    We deliver innovative, and compelling technology solutions, in partnership with our line of business CIOs, to enhance the internal customer experience that enables our business partners to deliver.Overview: Translates business requirements into telecom technical network requirements defined in the Provisioning guide and provides ongoing network operational support.  Works with Engineering to develop and test new and upgraded network products and services.Primary Responsibilities:Monitor network equipment life cycle and work with telecom engineering and suppliers on replacement equipment.   Procure, test and validate new equipment and services, develop installation and operational documentation and familiarize staff on the new equipment/service.  Translate business requirements into technical network requirements as defined by Engineering and documented in the departmental Provisioning guide.Provide written recommendations and design enhancements to network systems and prepare detailed specifications for implementations; review with engineering.Order network equipment and carrier services required to complete a specific installation; monitor order process and complete.Review and assess network design and recommend changes to bring current.   Document changes in STN format and present to the STN committee for approval.   Order and provision approved solution.Request quotes for telecom carrier circuits; select telecom carrier and order and provision carrier circuits required in design. Order carrier circuits and network equipment required to complete installation.Evaluate new products being proposed for use within the Bank.   Ensure appropriate documentation is in place before deploying new services and products to clients.Understand the overall network architecture and how packets flow on the telecom network for voice and data.  Understand SIP architecture and the infrastructure components that make up the Bank’s voice networkProvide after-hours support as scheduled and on a rotational on call basis.Develop project plans, testing, configurations and supporting documentation as required for network projects.Provide training as required to orient clients on network services.Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite.  Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.Complete other related duties as assigned.Education and Experience Required:Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years’ experience with telecom carrier networks and operational processes, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 7 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 3 years’ experience with telecom carrier networks and operational processesProficient in LAN, WAN, MAN and/or VoIP architectureProficient in use of pertinent word processing and spreadsheet softwareBasic understanding of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) wiring standardsExcellent troubleshooting ability, including documenting a symptom summaryGood documentation skillsGood training skillsDevelop operational documentationUnderstanding that travel is required; M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $91,061.75 - $151,769.58 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
