Job Description
This is an at-will, non-partisan position. Work is performed onsite at our campus in downtown Lansing. This position is 100% on site. Remote work is not an option for this position.
The Network Systems Analyst I position is a member of the Network Group. This group is responsible for servicing the computer hardware needs for the House of Representatives, including installation, configuration, and repair of all House computers and printers. This includes a general knowledge of network cabling components and network services.
The work week is forty hours in length. This salaried position will require additional hours to meet project and support commitments. Session support can occur anytime outside normal business hours, including evenings and weekends. The incumbent's responsibilities are performed without political partisanship or consideration of party affiliation.
Required Education and Experience
Minimum Qualifications
The incumbent must possess strong troubleshooting skills. Problem solving and analytical thinking are crucial for this position. Effective verbal and written communication skills are required.
A high school diploma is required.
Responsibilities
+ Creation and maintenance of the desktop image.
+ Diagnosing and repairing level 2 workstation hardware failures, including troubleshooting down to the faulty system component, e.g., hard drive or network interface card, etc.
+ Maintaining network health standards by monitoring daily backup processes.
+ Coordinating warranty repairs with appropriate vendors and ordering spare parts for onsite repairs.
+ Assisting other Network technicians in diagnosing and repairing network wiring components and wireless network components, including faulty cables, hubs, patch panels, network interface cards, and other service calls.
+ Installing and configuring Windows-based operating systems for desktop computers, laptops, and tablets. This may include print driver and network client installation and configuration.
+ Upgrading or replacing desktop or laptop workstations using imaging software while maintaining the integrity of the user’s data.
+ Maintaining an inventory of spare servers, peripherals, and network components.
+ Provide service and support to House users in a timely and responsive manner.
+ Supporting State Representatives and staff during Session.
+ Other tasks assigned by the Director, Deputy Director or Network Manager to facilitate House operations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+ Advanced computer skills; must be fluent in MS Windows 11, MS Office and related applications.
+ Experience with network (both wired and wireless) troubleshooting is preferred.
+ PC configuration and image deployment in a Windows 11 environment is preferred.
+ Windows Server and Windows Active Directory experience is preferred.
+ Experience with Microsoft Software Center (a.k.a. Endpoint Configuration Manager) or Microsoft Intune is preferred.
+ Experience within cloud management and technology is preferred.
+ Ability to lift heavy computer equipment up to 50lbs is required.
+ Ability to work outside normal business hours to complete tasks.
