DOE Savannah River Site (SRS) processes and stores nuclear materials in support of national defense and U.S. nuclear nonproliferation efforts. The site also develops and deploys technologies to improve the environment and treat solid and liquid nuclear and hazardous wastes left from the Cold War. While current missions remain the highest priority, SRS leadership places great importance on developing broader missions for SRS that use its unique capabilities to address critical national missions. The Operation and Maintenance operator is Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS), as a Subcontractor to SRNS, Jacobs Technology Inc. (JTI) provides telecommunications system operation and maintenance services as well as site operator services at SRS. This position supports a Jacobs Technology Inc. operation and maintenance program managing the voice and data services at the Savannah River site
Responsibilities\:
Install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, configure and test data networks at SRS in support of the Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, LLC (SRNS) O&M Telecommunication’s contract. Responsibilities include\: Assemble network equipment per network drawings and policies Install network fiber links to establish multi-mode/single mode fiber infrastructures. Troubleshoot and correct network problems experienced by customer. Install network equipment such as switches, routers, hubs, Wi-Fi, WiMAX equipment, and bridges on communication backboards or in network racks. Install equipment cables to complete horizontal cross-connections. Transfer users to newly installed network equipment and verify accessibility. Install Cisco Long Range Ethernet Links to support areas without fiber. Receive statements of work (SOWs) for SRNS network refresh projects; implement and complete. Review and plan work schedules to accomplish tasks associated with SRNS SOWs. Install network fiber links to establish multimedia/single mode fiber infrastructures as per SRNS network SOWs and network drawings. Uninstall network switches, routers, hubs, bridges, fiber links, and copper cables no longer required Update as-builds and provide redlines to network engineers. Perform network upgrades to SRS end users. Assist SRNS Network Engineers in troubleshooting problems with Cisco, HP and Motorola networking devices. Install latest Cisco Nexus based data center networks utilizing laser optimized modular fiber cross connects in a top of rack topology. Assist SRNS Network Engineers in overseeing outside plant cabling installation (fiber and copper) using established Quality Assurance procedures. Provide redlines and as-builds of network infrastructure using established Configuration Management procedures. The hourly rate for this position is $32 to $36. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire rate for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
