Abacus Technology is seeking a Network Technician to provide technical support for the US Air Forces Central Command (AFCENT) Directorate of Intelligence (A2) at Shaw AFB. This is a full-time position.
Responsibilities Perform network operations; provide knowledge transfer for all supported functions, conduct analysis, provide tech refresh/upgrades recommendations, install, configure, document, monitor, and operate and maintain hardware and software to continuously maintain and enhance organizational networks/domains. Provide O&M for the end-to-end system for the network to include but not limited to facility cable plant, layer 2 and 3 devices, intrusion detection system (IDS), encryption devices, modeling and simulation, and configuration management. Support technical staff assistance of all assigned projects pertaining to network inter-operability and integration requirements. Support desktop/server and software network connectivity. Support software and firmware maintenance on network devices. Support account management, work with the Information Systems Management (ISM) and provide support in the detection of network problems. Identify and resolve problems associated with hardware and network systems using USAFCENT network monitoring and analysis tools. Perform and manage all COMSEC related activities required to operate and maintain required encryption devices. Support all circuit actions as required IAW USAFCENT Standard Operating Procedures. Monitor network administration access and adherence to established policies and procedures. Develop and submit a Network Support Monthly Status Report. Document network performance to establish a baseline of the network and endpoints. Respond to OCONUS emergency outages. Qualifications5+ years experience in network support. Must be Security+ CE certified (or other certification in compliance with DoD 8570 IAT Level II). Must be CCNA certified. Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining network equipment with thorough knowledge of routers, switches, and firewalls. Experience with Cisco Multilayer network routers and switches. Experience configuring and operating VTC management systems. Experience with network monitoring and management using an automated solution. Able to assess infrastructure, identify areas for improvement, and recommend solutions. Able to provide technical guidance and direction to system administrators and help desk technicians. Extensive experience with security as it pertains to network architecture, desktops, laptops, servers, firewalls, routers, and intrusion detection systems (IDS). Experience with USAF IT environment and networks. Must have good communication skills and an ability to conceptualize network infrastructures. Able to work independently or as part of a team and interact professionally within all levels of an organization. Must be a US citizen and hold a Top Secret clearance with SCI access or eligibility (TS/SCI).
