Neuro Service Coordinator

Surgical Services I Lexington

Full-time, First Shift

Provides supervision of workflow and staff for service lines within the Department of Surgical Services. Assures the provision of patient care by addressing performance, patient, family, and physician issues/concerns as appropriate. Ensures on-going compliance with JCAHO/CMS accreditation and State Licensure requirements. Acts as a clinical resource and mentor/preceptor to staff working within the service line.

Description:

Ensures that equipment and supply needs for clinical staff is met on a daily basis.Monitors daily surgery schedule and coordinates with manager to assign equipment and staff to provide for the provision of patient care.Updates preference cards within two weeks based on physician needs or changes in surgical technique or supplies.Facilitates turnover of room between cases.Coordinates with Operations Clinical Coordinator or Charge Nurse to insure coverage for staff during breaks and lunches.Responsible for overseeing equipment used in respective service line which includes maintenance and/or contacting appropriate vendor for service.Keeps abreast of current technology for service recommending acquisition options that are consistent with the goals of the organization.Keeps manager and/or executive informed as to status of equipment purchases or changes in repair status.Informs scheduling of changes in equipment availability.Maintains and orders special orders supplies based on surgical procedure or surgeon preference.Ensures that new/borrowed equipment is checked in by Biomed before use and that staff operating equipment is adequately trained and deemed competent.Coordinates all loaned/borrowed instrumentation through Sterile Processing Manage

Requirements:

High School Diploma or Equivalent.
RN or Certified Surgical Tech (if not currently certified, certification must be obtained within two years from the date of hire).Minimum of five years of experience in the relevant service line.
