Job Description

Through a collaborative approach with the healthcare team, close supervision of senior neurodiagnostic technologist, the Neurodiagnostic Technologist Level I will perform routine electroencephalogram studies (EEG) in outpatient and inpatient facilities, following departmental and American Clinical Neurophysiology Society (ACNS) guidelines. May perform more complex neurodiagnostic studies upon completion of a training period set by the department guidelines. Supports and ensures comprehensive patient care focused on supporting the integrity of the family system and patient care team. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services promoting a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Experience

1 year of experience in inpatient or outpatient settingGraduated from CAAHEP accredited nuerodiagnostic school or an ARBET recognized program

Preferred Qualifications

Associates degree or higherGraduate from CAAHEP accredited neurodiagnostic school

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Certification Summary

Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employmentMust receive R.EEG T. certification within two years of hire date

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The ability to demonstrate competencies key to the position required within six months of hire

Job Responsibilities

Under close supervision of senior neurodiagnostic tech, will perform routine neurodiagnostic procedures in accordance with the ACNS guidelines, and may perform more complex studies after completion of a period of training set by department guidelines.Continues to learn and apply basic and intermediate waveform recognition, relevant medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, infection control, and current HIPPA practices.Performs patient assessment as related to care, such as electrode product allergies, movement restrictions, and cognitive function.Attends relevant courses, online courses, or case studies through journals/relevant publications.Documents patient information in patient’s electronic medical record according to hospital and departmental guidelines.Follows departmental guidelines to ensure the best patient care possible.Informs manager or designee of all patient/personal injury or unsafe situations, anticipated problems, and unusual situations, and completes appropriate related documentation according to departmental and hospital guidelines.Communicates effectively with patient/family, department staff, physicians, and other health care professionals to promote quality patient care.Works at alternative locations as needed to support patient care at the discretion of direct supervisor/manager or designee.Is responsible for maintaining continuing medical education and increasing technical competencies.
