Neurophysiology Technologist - Full Time
Job Summary

Job Duties

Performs Neurodiagnostic procedures according to facility policy and procedures. During procedures for which competence has not been achieved, the technologist will train under direct technical supervision.

Knowledgeable in correct Neurodiagnostic performance and recognition of clinically significant findings and follows facility policy and procedures regarding critical test results.Maintains the patients’ safety through communication to other patient care support staff during testing if needed.Continues to learn and apply basic and intermediate EEG waveform recognition, relevant medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, infection control, current HIPPA practices, contraindications for activation procedures, instrumentation and preparation for use.Performs patient assessment as related to care such as electrode fixation product allergies, movement restrictions and cognitive function.Knows and recognizes drug and physiologic status effects on activity monitored.Communicates appropriately and effectively with the patient and healthcare staff to convey the purpose of the diagnostic testing and answers questions regarding the procedure.Understands why and how to maintain correct electrode connections.Identifies and performs basic and intermediate technical troubleshooting and artifact identification and elimination.Understands and follows concepts of digital equipment and electrical safety within the Neurophysiology unit.Has knowledge of alternate montages, protocols and alternate equipment settings and their effects should be applied.Contacts supervisory staff as appropriate for problems within the Neurophysiology unit, stocks supply, and prepares patient rooms for Neurodiagnostic procedures.
