Neuroscience (Med Professor Basic) **FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT** The CUNY School of Medicine (CUNY Med) at The City College of New York (CCNY), is the only medical school in the City University of New York system. Our innovative curriculum allows students to complete both their undergraduate Bachelor of Science (BS) and Doctor of Medicine (MD) degrees in seven years. CUNY Med graduated its first MD class in 2020. CUNY Med also has a Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies (PA). Our PA Program is a 28-month graduate program leading to a M.S. degree and certification as a Physician Assistant pending successful completion of the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination. We are one of the first degree-granting physician assistant programs in the country. Our mission is to provide access to medical education to talented youth from social, ethnic and racial backgrounds historically under-represented in medicine and to develop health professionals committed to practicing in under-served communities with a special emphasis on primary care. With our reputation for excellence we have earned national acclaim for performance and a broad network of clinical sites for clerkships. The Department of Molecular, Cellular, and Biomedical Sciences at the CUNY School of Medicine invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position. We seek a dynamic neuroscientist who complements departmental and school strengths in systems and molecular neuroscience, which includes the neural basis of neurodegeneration, motor control, neural circuit development, and spinal cord injury. We seek to hire a candidate with an established research program in one or more of the following the areas of interest: motor circuit development, spinal cord injury, and the neural determinants of movement control. We are particularly interested in candidates using molecular and genomic approaches to investigate these research topics to inform the mechanisms of neurological diseases and neuro-developmental disorders. Appointment at the Professor rank is anticipated, but other candidates may be considered. We particularly encourage applications from members of groups that are traditionally underrepresented in science and medicine. Responsibilities include establishing and maintaining an externally funded research program, participating in medical and graduate student education, and engaging in institutional service. The potential to develop cross-disciplinary collaborations within and outside the department is essential. In addition: + Principal Investigator for neuroscience laboratory research; including establish existing research program at CUNY + Secure adequate funding at the national level to support the research program + Participate, as needed, in the Department’s teaching program + Meet, as needed, departmental service requirements + Participate in CUNY and CUNY SoM service requirements **QUALIFICATIONS** + Doctoral degree or Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. + Demonstrable track record of research productivity, as evidenced by highly impactful publications and sustained record of external governmental//federal grant funding. + The candidate must have a national and international standing evidenced by invited speaking opportunities at conferences and symposia. **COMPENSATION** $108,755 - $155,193 Salary commensurate with education and experience.
