Hatch, a full-service engineering consultancy, is currently seeking a Control and Automation Designer with the desire for a challenging career in the engineering consulting field. Reporting to the Regional Director for Controls & Automation, this position is out of our Houston, TX office.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

Work under the supervision, mentorship and guidance of a Senior Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Designer / Engineer 

Produce and maintain technical and engineering drawings using 2D or 3D CAD software as required 

Produce designs and drawings for instrumentation and control systems, i.e. control system architecture drawings, loop drawings, panel layout drawings, network diagrams, installation detail drawings, interconnection wiring and termination diagrams, cable schedules, general arrangement drawings and instrument location drawings 

Support cable tray/rack routing and design 

Apply the requirements of ISA/IEC/IEEE/or local codes/standards as applicable to the respective project in executing all design work 

Check drawings prior to release 

Ensure coordination with designers and engineers of other disciplines 

Perform clash detection of models with other discipline models 

In conjunction with I&C engineering staff, produce detailed engineering drawings and documentation for identified and approved concepts/projects 

Participation in formal engineering review processes 

Verify on-site condition and dimensions relating to existing facilities. 

  

Preferred Qualifications & Skills: 

Proficient in the use of AutoCAD or MicroStation 

Working knowledge of P&ID symbology (ISA 5.1) 

Knowledge of instrumentation or control systems 

Knowledge of industry or regulatory standards, regulations and codes

Perform assignments related to your sector 

Assist with preparation of detailed design for projects 

Support preparation of drawings from detailed notes and specifications 

Coordination with other technicians/engineers on projects 

Provide support to Senior Engineers and Designers as and when needed
