About KMVT:

KMVT, Your Hometown Station, is the dominate news source for Twin Falls and Southern Idaho. Twin Falls is home to Shoshone Falls, which is 45’ taller than Niagara Falls, and is only a ten minute drive from the television station. The Perrine Bridge, which crosses over the Snake River, is the only man-made structure where BASE jumping is legal. This bridge is almost 500’ above the Snake River itself! Within an hour and a half drive of the station, you’ll find four ski mountains, the City of Rocks National Reserve, Craters of the Moon National Monument, 48’ tall Balanced Rock, the Shoshone Ice Caves, Bruneau Sand Dunes, Jackpot, Nevada and too many unique hiking trails to count! If you are an outdoorsy person, I promise, you will not be bored!!! When the snow melts you can enjoy mountain biking, hiking, fishing, and picnics. Take in views of the massive Snake River Canyon or tee off surrounded by canyon walls and dazzling waterfalls.

Job Summary/Description:

KMVT is looking for an Evening News Anchor. This person will be a leader in the newsroom and the ideal candidate is a self-starter who will help contribute to our content on all platforms, including on-air, digital, social, and OTT.  This is a high-profile role at a dominant, legacy news station.  The position requires poise, journalistic integrity, and the ability to hold and build an audience both on-air and digital.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Co-anchor newscasts Monday-Friday
* Develop lead story ideas and contribute daily to content decisions
* Report on special projects as assigned
* Conduct live interviews and anchor continuous coverage
* Strong fact-checking skills and copy-editing ability
* Contribute stories to all platforms – streaming, website, and social media
* Represent the station in the community and for various promotional events
* Writes stories, teases, and other important content to contribute to the overall quality of the newscasts
* Helps evaluate leads and tips to develop story ideas
* Covers news in the field when necessary

Qualifications/Requirements:

* At least 2 years of experience as a news anchor
* College degree or equivalent job experience in a journalism-related field
* Must be able to work quickly, meet deadlines, multi-task, and show composure, especially during high-pressure breaking news situations
* Clear understanding of journalistic ethics
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
* Understanding of and adherence to AP Style and broadcast writing
* Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including representing the station at community events
