FOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. These stations leverage viewer, distributor and advertiser demand for the FOX Network’s national content.

So if you are a solutions-oriented, strategic, and innovative News Operations guru…KMSP/WFTC wants YOU as our new News Operations Manager.

Live presentation, be that a regular newscast, or a live stream from a podcast center or a full-on broadcast from the heart of a football stadium, is our number one mission.

You’ll be a part of ALL technical aspects of a 24/7 news operation. You’ll partner with all areas of News as well as Engineering, Finance and IT to enhance the technical areas of our multi-platform news department. Make sure you are an effective project manager, that you are customer service minded, and have that you have excellent organizational skills to enhance the operations.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Oversight of the news operations budget including budget forecast and planning, tracking expenses, approving invoices and expense reports, and booking travel and accommodations.  Must be fiscally minded and invest resources thoughtfully and in accordance with the vision for our newsroom.Have an excellent knowledge base on live technology, and a thirst to learn more.Have a strong skill set in photojournalism too; you will be expected to organize and shoot at live remotes.Act as a custodian of records for the newsroom including video license requests and video subpoena demandsResearch, purchase, and implement all news gathering equipment including news cameras and equipment, live transmission units, vehicle fleet purchase and maintenance.   This will include receiving bids per Company guidelines, writing CPRs, and ensuring time implementation.Maintain the FCC Quarterly reports and ensure compliance with all FCC requirementsAble to diagnose and resolve problems with all technical facets of the newsroomEffectively communicate with other departments regarding projects and newsroom needs

In addition to the qualifications outlined above, candidates will have:

5+ years’ experience in a newsroom environment with either technical, operational, administrative responsibilitiesDirect experience in the areas of live technology training and management, equipment procurement, and budget and contract experienceFamiliarity the news production process, logistics, editing systems, ENG/SNG newsgathering, and mobile platformsDemonstrated ability to project manageExperience with financial projects such as purchasing, CPRs, and capital projects

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $90,000.00-105,000.00 annually for high cost labour markets such as but not limited to New York City and Los Angeles, $75,000.00-87,500.00 annually for all other US locations. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
