News Producer/Morning Manager
The Nexstar newsroom in Springfield, Missouri is looking for a skilled producer to manage and take our morning news coverage to the next level. The successful candidate must have a proven track record as a newscast producer. The candidate will be expected to produce our Midday newscast. Candidates must have strong leadership skills and news judgment, the ability to showcase important stories, and know how to win “Breaking News and Weather”. You’ll collaborate with anchors, a reporter, a photographer, a meteorologist, and a digital producer. You’ll make decisions on rundown changes and reporter story changes. In this role, you will work closely with the News Director to set and uphold the high standards for how newscasts are produced and executed. Job Responsibilities: + Oversight of the rundown and scripts + Helping to showcase lead stories + Coaching and training news producers + Urgency to respond to breaking news and weather + Producing newscasts when needed + Posting digital content when needed + Managing schedules and conducting performance reviews + Creating a positive work culture Requirements & Skills: + Bachelor’s degree in journalism or closely related field + Producing experience is required + Excellent writing/communication skills + Editing experience + Strong news judgment and integrity + Detail oriented Nexstar Media Group, Inc.
