News Production Assistant
WGNO-TV in New Orleans has an exciting opportunity for an entry level News Production Assistant! We are looking for an energetic, reliable, and creative candidate to help prepare and execute on-air newscasts. This person may also create content for our digital and social platforms (website, Facebook, X, etc.). This is a great entry-level position for someone looking to launch a career in news, television, or various digital and social roles. This position works closely with newsroom managers/leaders, newscast producers, and production crew to deliver late-breaking, informative news, weather, and traffic coverage in the Greater New Orleans region. Responsibilities include: + Live shot coordination with news center and field crews for our evening, and/or weekend newscasts + Prepping for newscasts including but not limited to: assignment desk, studio and set preparation. + Operate teleprompter during newscasts, breaking news, and specials + Video editing for newscasts + Creating content for our digital and social platforms + Track, document and communicate technical and operational notes to Production, News, Engineering, and Creative Services management as appropriate. + Reconcile technical and operational issues related to daily news production processes. + Provide other production support (live and pre-recorded) for news specials, creative services, sports, special events, digital and client production. + Facilitate production support aligned with departmental and station business objectives and priorities as required. + Precise time management and ability to work efficiently under hard deadlines. + Demonstrates composure and timely decision-making in a dynamic, fluid and vigorous environment associated with live news production. + Other duties as assigned Experience: + Experience is not necessary, but education and/or internship in television or related field preferred + Training will be provided + Shifts vary; must be able to work evenings and/or weekends, as needed + Candidates must submit current resume detailing relevant experience and interests #LI-Onsite Nexstar Media Group, Inc.
