NewsNation is currently searching for a Part Time staff Studio Van Technician for our nationally broadcast shows originating from our Washington DC studio.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate must have a solid understanding of live broadcast/production elements, specifically news production, and be able to operate live broadcast equipment in a mobile environment.Drive and operate mobile studio van for guest live shots. Assist guests with mics and IFB earpieces, establish PL communications and transmission to network facilities, including DC, NY, & Chicago.Must know how to deliver high quality broadcasts, have a passion for journalism and thrive in the technical news production environment. May be asked to train others or create training documentation on van operation. May be asked to cross-train on other mobile transmission solutions (satellite truck)May be asked to cross-train on other in-studio/land-based broadcast operations positions, including (but not limited to) robotic camera operation, A2, floor managing, signal acquisition and distribution/routing.Must be able to communicate and document effectively and concisely to the rest of the team.All day parts (mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays) may be a part of the schedule with overtime as situations and breaking news demand.Additional responsibilities may include set-up and operated home-based TV studios for network contributors.Qualifications:
Five plus (5+) years’ experience in professional live television broadcast operations preferred. Be detail-oriented and be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.Candidate should be a problem solver and quick thinker to resolve existing issues and to work around problems that arise during live news.Must work well in a collaborative team environment.Working knowledge of common business software applications, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field preferred.This position will require flexible shift work which may include nights, weekends, and holidays, along with overtime as situations and breaking news demand.Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000 Annualized (Commensurate with experience)#LI- Onsite
