NGM - Capital Projects Health and Safety General Supervisor

Our people division is growing, and we are looking for Health and Safety General Supervisor for our Capital Projects department. The successful candidate will work under the guidance and direction of the Capital Projects Manager to develop and implement strategies to control immediate risks in the workplace and solve H&S problems or issues. Coach, teach, mentor, and support personnel holding subordinates accountable for all expectations and responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

 

H&S functions and activities to support capital project planning & execution Developing annual safety strategies and setting monthly focus aligned to needs Maintain working relationships with the regional & site-based Health and Safety teams to ensure alignment with goals and expectations Ensure ongoing Contractor Management training is provided to all Capital Projects team members Lead incident investigations as assigned Complete ICAM analysis as assigned  Review Flash and Investigation Summary reports and communicate key message to all levels of capital projects team Develop and implement strategies to control risk and hazards in the workplace  Review and assist with department policy/procedure/team risk assessment development Assist in identifying department training needs and develop training plans to address needs Participate in the Pre-Bid Risk assessment and ensure appropriate quality Review bid packages & provide analysis during the bid evaluation process Review and approve contractor safety personnel qualifications and contractor safe work plans Participate in the contract kick off meeting Ensure regular internal safety inspections/audits are completed with appropriate detail & quality Participate in contractor performance reviews Participate with department management/supervision during MSHA/State inspections Assist in Formal Risk Assessments  Provide in-field Health & Safety coaching to all levels of capital projects team  Actively participate in team toolbox training sessions/safety meetings/ supervisor training  Ensure audits of investigation corrective actions are completed and in a timely manner  Provide on-call coverage as needed  Oversee Health & Safety Specialist: Provide goals, behavioral and role expectations for Health and Safety Specialist Measure, report, and review Health and Safety Specialist performance against expectations and roles/ responsibilities  Coach, teach, mentor, and support Health and Safety Specialist to succession and in safety processes and plans  Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in a non-scientific field, or a minimum of an associate degree in a science-based curriculum, or 6+ years’ experience in mining or construction industry with proven/demonstrated Leadership in Safety required MSHA Blue Card Holder / OSHA 30 training preferred Incident investigation preferred Contractor management systems preferred Strong computer skills preferred
