Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Health and Safety Specialist for our Capital Projects department. The successful candidate will work under the guidance and direction of the Capital Projects Health and Safety General Supervisor to develop and implement strategies to control immediate risks in the workplace and solve H&S problems or issues.

Responsibilities:
Contractor Management: Provide ongoing Contractor Management training to Capital Projects team members Ensure Contractor are compliant in the Contractor Management system Participate in the Pre-Bid Risk assessment as required Review bid packages & provide analysis during the bid evaluation process Review and approve contractor safety personnel qualifications as required Review and approve contractor safe work plans as required Assist in the verification of Contractor employee qualifications Assist in the completion of hazard training and work site induction Assist in the inspection of Contractors equipment Participate in the contract kick off meeting as required Assist in Formal Risk Assessments Participate in the Pre-Job meeting with all contractor employees prior to the start of work Participate in contractor performance reviews Complete audits to ensure all steps are followed as required Implement strategies to control risk and hazards in the workplace Review and assist with department policy/procedure/team risk assessment development Maintain working relationships with site based Heatly and Safety departments to ensure alignment with goals and expectations Participate in incident investigations as assigned Assist ICAM analysis as assigned Assist in identifying department training needs when applicable and/or requested Actively participate with internal safety internal safety inspections/audits are completed with appropriate detail & quality Participate with department management/supervision during MSHA/State inspections Assist in Formal Risk Assessments Provide in-field Health & Safety coaching to all employees Actively participate in divisional toolbox training sessions/safety meetings/ supervisor training Ensure audits of investigation corrective actions are completed and in a timely manner Provide on-call coverage as needed Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Minimum of an associate degree in a science-based curriculum or 2 years’ experience in Health & Safety, project management, or construction management with proven and demonstrated Leadership in Safety required Incident investigation preferred Contractor management systems preferred Strong computer skills preferredWhat We Can Offer You
