Starting at: $23.35 hourly| On-site Durant, OK| Monday-Friday| 8:00 AM - 4:30PM **Job Purpose or Objective(s):** Answer government-to-government consultation requests under the National Historic Preservation Act for a portion of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma’s area of historic interest. You will report to the Director of Historic Preservation. **Primary Tasks:** 1. You will review Section 106 projects for potential impacts to Choctaw historic sites. 2. Work with the lead federal agency and other partners to obtain the best data to base determination of effect. 3. Prepare and submit official responses to federal agencies’ consultation requests. 4. In collaboration with the Senior Review and Compliance Officer, negotiates with federal agencies to reduce adverse effects to Choctaw sacred and historic sites. 5. You will document official correspondence in Laserfiche. 6. Perform other tasks as may be assigned. **Requirements:** * Associates Degree anthropology or Native American Studies or equivalent experience or 2 years of directly related experience in lieu of education * Proficiency in using Windows-based operating system * Basic knowledge of Choctaw History and Culture * Basic understanding of historic preservation law * Strong organizational and clerical proficiency About the Choctaw Nation The Choctaw Nation is the third-largest Indian nation in the United States, with over 200,000 tribal members and more than 11,000 employees.
