NICU Dietitian
Clinical Dietitian + Clinical Dietitian maintains availability to health care team members during work hours; demonstrates flexibility and availability for department coverage. Demonstrates willingness to be flexible in acquiring new skills and acceptance of new and/or additional work assignments. + Responds quickly when a special request from staff, peers or patient/care providers is received. + Participates in bed-side rounds, patient care-planning rounds or patient care meetings as assigned and communicates nutrition problems, concerns and recommended interventions to the health care team. + + Completes patient and care provider nutrition education as needed on specialized nutrition programs; includes family members/care provider or support system to generate optimal understanding and compliance; provides reference education materials regarding specialized diet instruction; and provides case managers and home care agencies with discharge plan and recommendations. + Documents education completed in medical record. Completes nutritional assessments and reassessments. Responds to referrals, consults and/or requests from physicians and health care team members; completes assessments according to designated timeframes; reviews and evaluates the medical record, interviews patients and care providers as appropriate, identifies nutrition-related problems, determines appropriate interventions and establishes desired patient outcomes; assigns and documents priority level per departmental guidelines; evaluates for signs and symptoms of malnutrition and communicates malnutrition diagnosis and other concerns and recommendations with physician and health care team members; monitors for changes in nutritional status, modifying nutrition plan/interventions as necessary. Ensures all required electronic/paper documentation is complete; documents completion of tasks in the medical record. Work Site This is a fully on-site position in Loma Linda, California. Work Environment Focuses in the NICU care area. 8am-5:30pm. Will handle managing 8-9 patient cases. Department gets 20-25 cases per week. Current need is on-site but could evolve into a hybrid role. Start time is flexible 7am-10am. 8-hour shift.
