CASES’s Court Services department plays a pivotal role, offering court-mandated or endorsed programs throughout the criminal legal process. These programs, which include alternatives to detention and incarceration, are supported by the New York State Office of Court Administration and are integral to the judicial process. CASES collaborates with a broad network of stakeholders to provide these program options, benefiting thousands of defendants across various boroughs. The arraignment team's diligent screening of defendants for program eligibility, along with the intake assessment team's efforts to divert individuals into community-based programs, underscores CASES's commitment to its mission.
Salary: The salary for Night Court Liaison is $67,000 per year.
Shift Hours: This position is full-time Friday-Tuesday 5pm-1am shift.

What you will be doing:
Night Court Liaison (MSW) build and maintain strong relationships with judges, district attorneys, defense counsel, probation officers, and other court partners to ensure smooth program admissions and maintain CASES' credibility.Review referrals and conduct clinical screening interviews to determine eligibility for CASES programs and match participants with the most suitable program.Engage with potential participants, their attorneys, and court staff to facilitate program enrollment and provide support.Accompany participants to court appearances, advocate for their enrollment or continued participation in CASES services and provide written court reports as needed.Complete intake paperwork, enter participant information into Salesforce, and ensure participants understand program expectations and conditions of release or plea agreement.Collaborate with community-based colleagues to ensure court-ordered supervision conditions are met and provide timely notification of non-compliance, absconding, or re arrest.Collect and track participant data, including intake and re-arrest cases, warrants, and other relevant information.Demonstrate cultural competency in delivering services to diverse populations, including youth, young adults, adults, and individuals with behavioral health needs.Mentor less experienced colleagues on court procedures, CASES programs, and clinical criteria.Participate in supervision, case review, staff meetings, and in-service trainings to develop clinical, motivational interviewing, trauma-informed, and legal system competence.Work a flexible schedule, including regular and irregular shifts, to ensure consistent coverage for all court shifts.
What we are looking for:
Master’s degree in clinical field (social work, substance abuse, mental health) NYS licensure. Highly articulate, resourceful, and professional – able to stand up in court and present detailed information. Proven ability to function effectively in a high paced and stressful environment. Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of participants and staff. Interest in, and sensitivity to, issues facing justice-involved individuals. Ability to quickly gather and evaluate the accuracy of information and use good judgment within time constraints and high-volume courtrooms. Excellent public speaking skills. Ability to formulate persuasive arguments for eligible defendants to be placed in CASES programs. Excellent analytical and written skills.Ability to work autonomously.
